Gardens at Laura Plantation
The plantations are beautiful this time of year! What better way to see them than to join us for a Sunday morning at Oak Alley and Laura plantations? Our featured tour for this Sunday, November 20, will take you across the swamp and over the river to see not only a classic Greek Revival plantation but also a traditional Creole plantation. Enjoy a relaxing, informative, guided tour to Oak Alley plantation where guides in period dress will pass on the lore of this American plantation and view the breathtaking vista that gave the plantation its name. Take some time to walk around the grounds, being sure to find the classic cars in the garage and the tent of Civil War artifacts, or visit the gift shop to grab a snack before heading down the road just a few miles to Laura Plantation, Oak Alley's Creole neighbor. At Laura you will travel back in time and relive the fascinating history of the Creole family that lived and worked a very different way of life than their American neighbors. Your visit to Laura will not only teach you all about the Creole lifestyle but also includes a guided tour of the garden, where you can see banana trees, pepper plants, pecan trees, and other local vegetation, as well as a look at Laura's slave cabins and some of the artifacts within. Find more details here and make reservations here or by calling 1-888-223-2093. The featured tour is $86 per person and will run from 8:30am to 2:00pm; this tour is available for immediate confirmation, but reservations are a must!
