The Riverwalk Marketplace, a section of shops and restaurants located along the Mississippi in the Central Business District, was historically part of the city's busy shipping industry. After the 1984 World's Fair the area was converted into the mall that now occupies the space. Over the past few years the aging mall has been in a state of revival and redevelopment and the grand reopening will be taking place this Thursday, May 22. The $70 million renovation has brought new stores and restaurants to the mall, including a wide variety ranging from Coach to Cafe du Monde! The opening ceremonies will commence at 9:30am and a full list of retailers and restaurants can be found here.
