One of our most popular tours for years has been our Grand Tour. This all-day outing includes a little bit of everything: swamp, plantation, cuisine, and plenty of history! The tour features visits to two plantations, Laura Plantation and Oak Alley Plantation. The two make an excellent pairing as they provide two very different views of plantation life in antebellum New Orleans, despite being just minutes apart on the great River Road. Oak Alley Plantation gives visitors a chance to see the classic American-style plantation, with Greek revival architecture and newly reconstructed slave cabins. Laura Plantation offers a unique opportunity to take a look inside a Creole plantation, with markedly different architecture and a contrasting management and family lifestyle when compared to the American neighbors. While stopped at Oak Alley Plantation lunch is served in the Oak Alley cafe, featuring many local dishes including Bananas Foster, gumbo, jumbalaya, and crawfish etouffe! The trip is rounded out with a swamp tour on either an airboat, or fan boat as they are sometimes called, or a slow and peaceful bayou boat. Either way, cypress trees, gators, and other swamp critters are on display, and our boat captains are full of entertaining tales of life on the swamp. A full day that truly includes a little something for everyone, the Grand Tour is one of our most beloved tours.
